Joe Burns serves as a Broker Associate with Frank Howard Allen in Sausalito, California, specializing in the sale of residential and investment properties in Marin County. Burns began his real estate career in 1986 after earning his real estate license while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing from California State University, Fresno. During his senior year of college, Burns successfully closed five residential sales in a dreary Fresno market.
Early in his career, Burns gained experience in escrow, mortgage lending and personal finance management, working with Transamerica Financial. In 1992, Burns launched Real Estate of the Napa Valley, a real estate publication in Napa, California, focused on advertising residential property. Through this experience, Burns became entrenched in the publishing world, managing niche publications in Napa and weekly newspapers in the Truckee/North Tahoe area. In 2001, Burns reentered the housing industry as executive director for the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe (CATT). He was credited for growing the association into one of the most recognizable not-for-profit organizations in the Sierra and as the primary voice for smart development in the region.
Burns catapulted from CATT back into residential sales in 2003, as a luxury home specialist with Blue Sky Home Center and later DMB Realty, at the gated golf community of Lahontan in North Tahoe. In 2006, Burns was promoted to manager of Santaluz Realty in North San Diego County and later studied the commercial investment market with Sperry Van Ness before returning to residential sales in Marin County.
Burns has been an active board member of Rotary International and is a past director for the Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District. Burns resides in Sausalito with his wife Heidi and their wonderful daughter.
